This poses the question whether 55003 did enter works at the beginning of July to have 454 swapped for 434 as only the works report dated 26/08 after the classified repair suggests 434 was in situ. No shopping proposals or casualty reports exist for the early July visit. My conclusion is that the works report was a typo and 434 was not carried. Though hours recorded for the relevant power units should be transversed, if correct, to reflect their relevant fitting dates in October 1974: 407 03.10.74 & 454 22.10.74. 107,000 miles since last classified repair (02.08.74). Power units No.1 407 replaced by 412 (ex 55012) & No.2 454* (officially 434) replaced by* 447 (ex 55022), bogies No.1 9000-13 replaced by 9000-19 & No.2 9000-14 replaced by 9000-20. Boiler 1495/J2951* was given an unclassified repair*.

Letter dated 02/09 from King's Cross Divisional Maintenance Engineer to Finsbury Park manager asks if any of the above defects are still extent. Letter dated 02/09 from Finsbury Park manager to King's Cross Divisional Manager states all repairs carried out at Doncaster. Released from Doncaster Works.
