55004 (D9004) "QUEENS OWN HIGHLANDER" awaits scrapping at Doncaster Works on the 31st July 1982. No.4 had escaped death just over two years earlier, after a lengthy stay at Doncaster from April 1978 until December 1979, her re-appearance from the 'Plant' then was with much relief but she was not to escape again and was the last Deltic to be cut up one year later during July 1983.

55004 is seen again in company with 55022 (D9000) "ROYAL SCOTS GREY" - this locomotive found a new lease of life when secured for preservation by the 'D9000 Fund' during 1983.
