Forlorn and awaiting the torch 55008 (D9008) "THE GREEN HOWARDS" is seen at Doncaster Works on the 31st July 1982. This was in fact the last month that the locomotive remained intact - it was scrapped during August 1982. The No.2 cab (right of loco) was bought privately for preservation and later became the property of the Deltic Preservation Society.
