Power unit No.405 is seen inside the Crimpsall erecting shops at Doncaster Works on the 9th June 1978. The engine had thrown a piston and con rod through the 'BC' crankcase cover, commonly known as 'putting a leg-out-of-bed', whilst fitted to locomotive 55012 (D9012) "CREPELLO". It would be twelve months before the engine next saw use in 55007 (D9007) "PINZA".
The reference is highlighted below in 405's history table...
