...Power unit 424 is lowered onto a flat wagon at ICI Wilton, on the 3rd April 1991, during the overhaul of 55009 (D9009) "ALYCIDON". 424 was the very last power unit to be repaired at Doncaster Works and was fitted to 55017 (D9017) "THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY" from the 17th November 1981 until withdrawal, it was fitted to 55009 during preservation in April 1985 after the main generator of 419 had flashed over during use at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
