In 1982, with the
whole Deltic fleet now withdrawn from service, Doncaster Works issued a memo to
recover any re-useable parts from the remaining locomotives awaiting scrapping.
The memo, dated 27th January 1982, was four pages long and mainly listed
re-useable electrical components to be recovered. Interestingly page 3 lists
'complete bogies' to be recovered under the mechanical heading - these were of
course re-used under class 37 locomotives.
